Did you ever ask your grandmother, about what kind of methods she used for her skincare? If you didn’t, ask them now. I am pretty sure, she will list a number of home remedies for glowing skin. Beauty salons were not famous back then as they are today. Earlier, people were not dependent on the beauty salons to make them look good or to nourish their skin. They did not go to parlors to get facials and cleanups, yet their skin seemed smooth and glowing.

I, myself used to spend money on salon’s pampering but all of this seemed wasted when I looked at my grandma. I mean, even in the old age, her face has more glow as compared to mine’s and she doesn’t even spend money to get that glow. All she uses is, some regular kitchen ingredients in a very simple yet effective manner.

Why do we spend so much money then? Isn’t it much easier and affordable to get that glow sitting at your home?

So, here are some of the grandma’s home remedies to get a beautiful, smooth and glowing skin!

(NOTE: Some of the methods might cause irritation to certain skin types. Therefore, first try them on your arm or hand and then on your face. If you feel any kind of irritation, don’t use them)

 

MILK AND PAPAYA (for dry skin):Home remedies for glowing skin-milk

Drinking milk always has and will be, one of the biggest concerns of all the mothers. My mother had no worries because I love milk. I know some of you don’t like it at all but I would suggest you to start liking it. Don’t worry, you don’t need to drink it. Here’s what you need to do.

Take raw milk and put it in the refrigerator until it’s cream starts accumulating. Once, the cream gets accumulated properly, take that cream and massage your face with it. Do this for  15 minutes on a daily basis. You will start feeling the change after some time.

 

Home remedies for glowing skin-papayaPapaya may look quite weird (its shape and the seeds, look weird to me) but it can really make your skin look good. It is rich in vitamin A and C, antioxidants and a variety of minerals like potassium, magnesium, iron etc.

It lightens the skin tone, reduces acne and blemishes, hydrates the skin, prevents aging and tightens the skin.

All you need to do is take a ripe papaya, a cucumber and a banana. Blend them together and apply the mixture to your face. The cucumber helps to reduce acne and blemishes, reduces inflammation and alleviate sunburns. Banana tightens the skin and reduces wrinkles.

 

You can also make the mixture of papaya, honey and lemon. Honey moisturizes the skin, smoothens it, fades blemishes. Lemon acts as a natural bleaching agent. Lemon is the best natural scrub you can use. It cleanses your skin, removes germs and has cooling properties. Lemon is an excellent remedy to remove tanning. It prevents hair damage as well.

 

TOMATO (for oily skin):

It not only tastes good, but also nourishes the skin. It has so many benefits. It acts as a cooling agent and helps in removing oil from the skin, thus it is good for acne. Vitamin c present in it, helps to brighten the dull skin. Other than these, it also helps to control hair loss and prevents aging

Home remedies for glowing skin-tomato

To enjoy its skin care benefits all you need is a tomato, sandalwood powder and one lemon. You can either take the pulp or juice of  tomato, mix it with lemon juice and sandalwood powder. Apply this mask over your face and wash it after 15-20 minutes.

You can use tomato with a variety of other ingredients like lemon, oatmeal and milk  All these mixtures work well (tomato+lemon juice, tomato+milk, tomato+lemon juice+oat meal). You can either massage these mixtures or use them as the face packs.

You can use only tomato as well. Just take its pulp and massage it over the skin. You will start feeling the difference in your skin after some time.

 

Home remedies for glowing skin-oatmealOAT MEAL:

Oatmeal not only helps to fit into your jeans nicely, but also nourishes your skin. It acts as a complete package, oats = weight loss + beauty. What else do you need? Oats not only keeps your stomach full, thus reducing snack munching, but also acts as a natural cleanser for your skin. It removes the dead skin cells, thus rejuvenating the skin. All you need to do is- Mix 2 tablespoons of oats with 1 tablespoon of milk cream, squeeze half a lemon and you’re good to go! Massage your face with this mixture and you feel the difference in your skin.

Oats can also be used to moisturize the skin. For this, add ½ cup of milk to 1 cup of oats, mix it with 1 tablespoon of honey and you’re ready with your homemade product. Apply it over your skin.

If you are bothered by your itchy skin, take some oats, grind it well and mix it with lukewarm water. Apply it over the itchy skin areas, you will be relieved immediately.

Oats can be used to treat acne as well. Boil it and leave it for 15 minutes. Apply it over the affected area. It will absorb all the extra oil from your skin and make your skin clear and smooth.

 

WATER:

Drink as much water as you can. It not only keeps your body hydrated, but also makes your skin clear and glowing. It improves the digestion and flush out the impurities out of your body. It reduces acne as well.

Probably, some of you might be familiar with some of the methods already, but I am pretty sure no one would have used these before. Being stuck with busy lifestyle, there is really not much time for yourself but for all these home made remedies, you just need 20 minutes. Also, these are very affordable and you don’t need to book an appointment at the salon. Moreover, isn’t it better to use natural products on your skin as compared to artificial ones?
